Happy Holidays! God cared for us and our nutritional needs by specifically designing and providing food in a perfect form. To honor His design, we should strive to eat foods in as close to natural form as possible. When we do this, we ensure that our food is rich in the necessary nutrients to keep our bodies healthy and happy. We choose ingredients for our recipes with this in mind. When it comes to sweeteners, we use whole unrefined cane sugar, coconut sugar, pure maple syrup, raw honey or stevia. These natural sweeteners retain valuable nutrients and have minimal impact on our blood sugar levels so that we won’t set ourselves up for cravings and serious health issues. Our fats and oils are unprocessed as well, because healthy fats and oils are what protect our bodies from inflammation, heart disease and worse. We use unrefined coconut oil, organic butter and extra virgin olive oil. These are the highest quality natural fats that nourish us. We use whole grains and whole grain flours, as these retain the vital fibers, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants our bodies need to help us digest the carbohydrates and proteins in the grains. When we eat foods in their closest to natural form, our bodies are nourished both physically and spiritually. We can use our creative talents in the kitchen to prepare wholesome recipes that are healthy and tasty.
