Ah, morning traditions to get me going. It’s not coffee … or tea… it’s warm lemon water!

The reason for the warm lemon water in the morning is that the liver does most of its work at night while you are sleeping. Many of the toxins in our bodies are released during this time, which is why your first morning urine is so concentrated.

While we are sound asleep our liver is working overtime cleaning out the toxins we put in from the day. So the best thing you can do to help the liver’s hard work is to give it a little extra cleansing first thing in the morning. Have a nice warm mug of water and juice from half a lemon. The water should be just warmer than room temp – too hot and you will kill the Vitamin C. An important component to this beverage is the Vitamin C. It produces a compound called Glutathione which helps to cleanse and regenerate the liver.

Additional lemon in water throughout the day only helps to continue the support!  It’s a great way to clean the liver and alkalize the body! I drink lemon water all day long. I add a little stevia to make my own lemonade.
