Fatigue is believed to strike up millions of people in the U.S. each year. Women, especially in their 40’s and 50’s struggle because of hormone imbalances.

If you are tired from a bad night of sleep it can reduce your energy throughout the day. When you’re under stress due or just too busy in our modern society, our adrenals can suffer and fatigue may set in. If you suffer from fatigue for long periods of time, it is considered chronic fatigue.

If you have some of these issues you could be suffering from chronic fatigue:

  • Difficulty falling and staying asleep through the night
  • Headaches when you wake up that linger throughout the day
  • Mental fog – trouble concentrating or remembering clearly.
  • Stiff joints and muscles.
  • Frequently getting sick. (When you are worn down your immune system suffers)
  • Digestive issues such as constipation, acid reflux, or gas cramps.

Here are five ways you can fight fatigue and prevent chronic fatigue from setting in.

  1. Drastically reduce your intake of processed foods, and avoid sugar, and simple carbohydrates.
  2. Avoiding caffeine. Drink decaf coffee or tea and have a soothing herbal tea in the evening.
  3. Exercising regularly which will help lower stress levels, give you energy and aid in a good nights sleep.
  4. Go to bed earlier and practicing various relaxation techniques to help you sleep better.
  5. Instead of working or watching television spend time outside, read, journal or do other activities that help you relax.

We can choose to be tired all day, every day, or we can choose to change our habits and lifestyle to encourage rest, a good night’s sleep and long-term energy levels. If you suffer from fatigue, implement one of the five points above and work the others into your routine until they are all a healthy habit!
