Every summer has a barbecue and what goes with just about anything you put on the grill? Baked beans! Beans are a very healthy food! They are rich in antioxidants and full of fiber and protein. Some beans contain more protein per serving than some lean meats. And did you know bean eaters weigh as much as 6.6 pounds less than non-bean eaters.

Baked Beans & Sausage
1/2 c. barbecue sauce (no added sugars/artificial sweeteners)
1/2 c. water
2-3 Tbsp. tomato paste
1 Tbsp. raw organic honey
1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1  medium onion, chopped
1/4 tsp. LCM Signature Blend
1/8 tsp. Sea salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 cooked chicken sausage links
2 cans beans of choice  (cannellini, great northern, kidney, black) rinsed and drained

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally 3 to 5 minutes. Whisk barbecue sauce, water, tomato paste, honey, and seasonings in a medium bowl. Add sausage and cook, stirring, until beginning to brown, about 3 minutes more. Reduce heat to medium-low; add beans and the sauce mixture to the pan. Gently stir to combine, cover and cook until heated through, about 3 minutes. Works great in a crockpot.
