You will always find almonds at my house – they are a staple! Besides the amazing health benefits, I eat them before I go out to dinner to help with unwanted weight gains!

Just a handful gives me a satisfying feeling, which helps cut down on making unhealthy choices when pondering over the menu.

But it gets better – Almonds lessen after-meal surges in blood sugar! Eating almonds reduces the glycemic index (GI) of a meal, so the more almonds consumed, the lower the meal’s GI and the lessen the rise in a person’s blood sugar after consumption of the meal.

So, if you are planning to sit down to a pasta dinner, or going to go out for Mexican, don’t forget to eat a handful of almonds first!
