Get Personal with Your Workout Routine!
Implementing a daily routine of a healthy diet and exercise will not only help you look better, it will help you feel more alive and energetic! And as an added bonus, you could shed a few unwanted pounds and inches. Working out on a regular basis helps your body becomes more efficient at burning calories.
Increased physical activity leads to more muscle mass, which will result in a higher metabolism. Studies show every extra pound of muscle allows you to burn anywhere from 50-100 calories even while you are resting. It also can help you in the prevention of a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, cancer, and even has shown to improve arthritis pain.
Find something you love to do, because if you enjoy it, it will become a daily habit and not a dreaded routine. I look forward to my workouts! My goal is to do some form of physical exercise every day. Some days I start off with a brisk walk, usually 3-4 times per week. I walk about 45 minutes but if I have a busy day, I’ll get in at least 2-10 minute walks. On the weekends, I love to get on my bike and pedal around town with my husband. It’s a different view and pace and breaks up my routine a bit. I also attend Pilates classes which I love. I have really noticed a change in my body since I began Pilates about 4 months ago. I have shed inches off my thighs and have seen improved muscle tone. I’ve also noticed my posture is improved and some of my aches and pains have disappeared. But more importantly, I feel so much better. I am more energetic and my stress levels have been reduced extensively by implementing a regular work out routine.
When following an exercise regimen for a regular basis, you bring about greater self esteem through the results and accomplishment achieved. Some days I just need to go out for a brisk walk to take my mind off the daily grind and it helps me refocus so I can get back to work. So, go out and establish a routine that works for YOU. It’s important that you find a routine that is suited for your lifestyle and it is key to find the right balance. Increased exercising leads to a strengthening of the immune system but over exercising can weaken your immune system and make you sick. Set a goal for 30 minutes a day to start out at least walking and build up your tolerance from there. Always consult your doctor before beginning any intense exercise program.
