Green Enchilada Sauce
So many of the sauces lining the grocery store shelves may include hydrogenated oils as well as preservatives. Many products even include Maltodextrin, making the sauce highly processed. (Read more about Maltodextrin dangers by Dr. Axe.)
This recipe is simple and delicious!
Green Enchilada Sauce
- 1/4 cup EVOO or Avocado Oil
- 2 onions, chopped
- 8 garlic cloves
- 3 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 pound tomatillos
- 1 (4oz) can green chiles (or sliced jalapeños for an extra kick!)
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin
- Few leaves of fresh parsley
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
Heat oil in a pad over medium heat. Add the onions until translucent. Add the garlic and saute for about 3 more minutes.
Add the broth, tomatillos, green chiles, jalapeños and seasonings. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the tomatillos are soft. Remove from heat and cool.
Transfer to a blender and blend until you like the consistency of the sause.
