Raw honey is loaded with antioxidants and enzymes that aid digestion. The benefits of honey can only be derived from raw honey. The darker the honey, the more antioxidants it contains. It is known to be used in folk remedies for many ailments, including colds, coughs, and digestive difficulties. Honey also has antibacterial properties and, in its raw form, is a rich source of antioxidants, which stop disease-causing free radicals in their tracks.  This is most likely why it is considered an ant-aging food.

According to honeyologist Joe M. Parkhill (The Wonderful World of Bee Pollen), honey is the only food that provides all the substances necessary to sustain life, including water.

The best way to enjoy the benefits of honey is in its natural form: raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurized. When honey is pasteurized and processed, many of its natural enzymes and nutrients are destroyed. Most of the honey found in supermarkets is processed and is not a healthy choice.

Do you have trouble sleeping or take something every night to help you go to sleep? Try this: Take 1 cup warm, not boiling, milk (my preference is unsweetened almond) and stir in 1 tsp raw honey. This combination is well known for its soothing and relaxing effects.
