One of the healthiest things you can eat every day can also be the key to dropping a few of those stubborn pounds you’ve been wanting to get rid of! Not surprising but sometimes we all need a reminder – eat a salad every day! And make it a nice dark green leafy one! The more dark green leafy vegetables you eat the more more health you will gain and the more weight you will loose!There is another reason to eat dark green leafy vegetables daily – they are one of the best cancer-preventing foods due to their high level of antioxidants. Studies show eating leafy green vegetables three or more times a week has proven to significantly reduce the risk of stomach cancer; eating them once a day reduces your chances of getting lung cancer by half, and including them on a regular basis, prevents breast and colon cancer. They are also great sources of the primary water-soluble, and fat-soluble antioxidants – vitamin C and E; and they are also loaded with carotenoids – beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Their high fiber content helps the body eliminate toxins which is why eating a salad daily during detox is key.
Replace your lunchtime meal with a large salad loaded with healthy greens. Most find that if they have good intensions on having a salad for dinner, especially if they dine out, but they usually don’t follow through when it comes time to place your dinner order. I am guilty of this – I have good intensions and then I get so hungry for dinner and a salad no longer sounds good or satisfying. So, try to have your dark leafy greens at lunch. If you are a meat-eater, add some lean protein such as steak, tuna or chicken. Load your salad with avocado, nuts, and all sorts of healthy vegetables that add both color and nutrition to your meal. I personally love to eat salads when I dine out because I think they can be so much better than the ones I make at home!
