The state of your the gut (GI tract, digestive system) plays a critical role in supporting your health. A healthy gut digests and absorbs the food you consume so that the body can use all of the nutrients your food offers. However, if your digestive system is off-balance, the nutrients will leak out from the gut into the bloodstream and can trigger an inflammatory response in the body. (And you will lose some of the nutritional value from your food!)
Most doctors will tell you that 85% of ailments and diseases start in the gut. Every time we eat or drink we are either feeding disease or fighting it! Thankfully God has provided us natural ways to heal our gut and fight off illnesses and diseases.
We’ve added collagen to this tonic recipe which will make it more frothy. Collagen is beneficial to gut health because it contains large amounts of the amino acids glycine, glutamine and proline which can be beneficial to the intestinal tract as well as the stomach.
Gut Healing Tonic/Smoothie
- 1/2 cup aloe vera juice
- 1 pear, peeled
- 1-inch knob fresh ginger root, peeled
- 1/2 cucumber, peeled
- 1 tablespoon collagen powder
Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth.
